Job summary

Tech Connect Group is recruiting for a Prep Operator in Pontypool to join a leading automotive manufacturer’s Paint and Production team. You will prepare automotive parts to a high standard prior to painting, with early/late rotating shifts and overtime available.

Working in a fast-paced production environment, you will sand, mask and prep surfaces, identify defects, and ensure right-first-time quality in line with production procedures. The role ends at year-end with potential extension.

Qualifications

• Experience in automotive paint preparation or manufacturing environment.
• Strong eye for detail and high-quality finishes.
• Experience using hand tools and preparation equipment.
• Ability to identify and rectify surface defects.
• Understanding of quality standards and right-first-time production.

Responsibilities

• Prepare automotive parts and surfaces prior to painting and refinishing.
• Sand, rub down and prepare surfaces to required standard.
• Identify and rectify surface imperfections, defects and contaminants before paint.
• Mask and protect areas before painting.
• Use a range of hand tools and preparation equipment safely.
• Work with Paint department to meet production requirements.
• Carry out quality checks to ensure finish and conformity.
• Follow production processes, build instructions and procedures.
• Identify defects and resolve issues promptly without compromising quality.
