Job summary
Energy Jobline CVL is seeking a PLC Controls Engineer – Contractor for a major automotive automation project in Dagenham. You will work on production-line equipment and automated stations, commissioning and debugging live systems.
The role focuses on Siemens S7/STEP 7, SIMATIC Manager, and hands-on fault diagnosis in a fast-paced plant. You will collaborate with electrical, mechanical and site teams to ensure safe startup and handover of production cells.
Qualifications
- Siemens S7 / STEP 7 v5.x experience essential.
- Live-plant automotive commissioning experience required.
- Strong PLC fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to modify existing PLC code and develop new code.
- Independent work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Experience with SIMATIC Manager (not TIA Portal).
Responsibilities
- Program and commission Siemens S7 PLCs on live production lines.
- Download and commission software onto live equipment.
- Test sequences, safety circuits, I/O and automated processes.
- Modify PLC programs and write new code where required.
- Diagnose PLC, controls and runtime faults.
- Troubleshoot software and hardware during commissioning.
- Support safe commissioning and handover of production cells.
- Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, hardware and site teams.
