Job Title: Automation Tester
Location: Northampton
Salary/Rate: £350 per day inside IR35
Start Date: June 2025
Job Type: 6 month contract - extensions likely

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Automation Tester with a strong background in mainframe systems and modern automation frameworks. You'll be working on high-impact projects across complex environments, ensuring software quality through rigorous test design, development, and execution.

This role involves both hands-on test automation and collaboration with cross-functional teams to improve QA processes and deliver reliable, high-performance applications.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives
1. Design and implement comprehensive test plans and strategies
2. Develop and execute automated test scripts using tools like Java, Selenium, Cucumber, Maven
3. Work with DevOps tools including AWS, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines
4. Collaborate with developers, BAs, and designers to define and validate acceptance criteria
5. Conduct root cause analysis on defects, supporting resolution and tracking
6. Leverage Eclipse, IntelliJ, and version control tools like Git for development and testing
7. Stay updated with emerging testing trends and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
8. Deep understanding of the testing lifecycle, approaches, and quality assurance techniques
9. Proficient in writing test strategies, test cases, bug tracking, and test execution

Required Skills/Experience
1. Mainframe experience: JCL, CICS, SQL, FileAid, AbendAid, Cobol, DB2 & VSAM
2. Use of Java, Selnium, Cucumber JVM, and Maven
3. Rest APIs,
4. Development environments: Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA
