Job summary

QinetiQ Group plc is seeking an Automation Test Engineer to design and deliver Python-based automated testing, ensuring performance and readiness of defence IT infrastructure before deployment to operations. The role focuses on developing automated frameworks, converting manual tests to scripts, and providing evidence-based assurance to customers.

You will work with engineering teams to validate deployments, deliver test plans and reports, and present findings to stakeholders from Corsham,

Qualifications

• Significant experience developing automated testing solutions using Python.
• Experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks.
• Experience with BDD methodologies and Gherkin-based test development.
• Knowledge of scripting technologies including PowerShell and Bash.
• Experience using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
• Experience in secure, regulated or mission-critical environments.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC).

Job description

As an Automation Test Engineer, you will play a key role in assuring the performance, reliability and readiness of critical Defence IT infrastructure. Working within a highly technical test team, you'll develop automated testing capabilities that ensure complex systems are deployed and integrated correctly before entering operational service. Day-to-day, you'll design and develop Python-based automated test frameworks, execute system and integration testing activities, work closely with engineering teams to create new automated test solutions, and provide evidence-based assurance to the customer.

Essential experience of the Automation Test Engineer

• Significant experience developing automated testing solutions using Python

• Experience working within secure, regulated or mission-critical environments, Demonstrable professional experience in Automation Testing, Integration Testing or Systems Testing
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC)
• Relevant technical qualifications or equivalent industry experience

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Corsham site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week.
