Job summary

Involved Solutions is seeking a QA Automation Engineer in the UK to drive Java-based UI and API automation across multiple public sector projects. You will design scalable frameworks, implement end-to-end automated tests using Selenium, REST Assured and Playwright, and collaborate with DevOps and product teams to ensure quality in cloud-native environments.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java-based test automation.
• Hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver, REST Assured, Playwright and Cucumber BDD.
• Experience building and maintaining automation frameworks from scratch.
• Strong knowledge of UI and API automation best practices.
• Experience testing REST APIs using Postman, Swagger and JSON/XML validation.
• Experience across the full software testing lifecycle.
• Knowledge of accessibility testing using tools such as WAVE, AXE DevTools and VoiceOver.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git and Maven.
• Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies and Jira.
• Exposure to AWS cloud technologies and Kafka.
• Experience testing cloud-native and distributed systems is desirable.
• Knowledge of contract testing methodologies is desirable.
• Experience working within UK Public Sector or large enterprise environments is desirable.
• Performance testing experience using K6 is desirable.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable UI and API automation frameworks.
• Build automated test suites using Java, Selenium, REST Assured and Cucumber BDD.
• Develop and execute functional, regression, integration and end-to-end automated tests.
• Perform UI automation using Selenium WebDriver and Playwright.
• Carry out API testing using REST Assured, Postman and Swagger.
• Conduct accessibility testing to ensure compliance with WCAG standards.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and continuous testing throughout the development lifecycle.
• Work closely with developers, DevOps engineers, Business Analysts and Product Owners.
• Contribute to performance and load testing using K6.
• Support testing across AWS cloud environments and event-driven architectures.
