Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Test Engineer with deep expertise in modern testing frameworks, automation tools, and cloud-based infrastructure. This is a hands-on technical role ideal for someone looking to drive quality assurance across complex systems and CI/CD pipelines.

You’ll work closely with developers, QA, and DevOps teams to lead automation efforts and ensure the continuous delivery of high-quality software. This role offers a dynamic hybrid working environment (2–3 days in our Bathgate office) and exposure to cutting-edge technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Automation Development & Execution
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Java, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Build automation frameworks for web, mobile, and API testing using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, Rest Assured, and Postman.
  • Implement BDD test automation using SpecFlow, Cucumber, or JBehave.
  • API and Backend Testing
  • Automate REST API validation using Postman, Swagger, and Rest Assured.
  • Conduct backend data validation via MySQL/MariaDB databases.
  • Cloud and Infrastructure Automation
  • Support test automation in Azure environments.
  • Integrate automation with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and Git.
  • Test Frameworks and Tools
  • Execute tests using Cypress or Playwright.
  • Apply performance testing with JMeter or Locust.io and monitor via Grafana.
  • DevOps and CI/CD Integration
  • Collaborate with DevOps engineers to automate testing within CI/CD workflows.
  • Work with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized testing environments.
  • Cross-Platform Testing
  • Ensure compatibility across browsers and platforms (Linux and Windows).
  • Test within containerized environments using Docker and orchestration tools.
  • Agile Collaboration
  • Participate in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, etc.).
  • Work closely with developers, analysts, and product owners using Jira and Azure DevOps.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proficiency with React Testing Library and Jest for front-end testing.
  • Experience with Swagger for API documentation/testing.
  • Familiarity with Azure Pipelines and CI/CD automation.
  • Background in software testing with a focus on test automation (3+ years).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
