Operating globally, FORTNA is an award-winning, end-to-end design-build firm in the Automation and Logistics industry whose expertise spans over seven decades of service. We provide strategy, automation design & systems integration, and warehouse execution software to the world's most recognised brands.
Due to expansion and internal promotions, we are looking for 4 Electrical Controls Engineers (known internally as Automation Systems Engineers) to work on a rotating days and nights Panama shift. You would join a fantastic team in a fast-paced, time-critical, and exciting environment with state-of-the-art equipment at one of our most prestigious client sites in Nottinghamshire.
Your mission:
As an Electrical Controls Engineer, you are responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical support services and providing the highest level of Client satisfaction by identifying client problems, proactively monitoring client systems, and building and maintaining a support knowledge base.
You will provide site-based engineering support to minimise downtime and ensure uptime and availability of the installed automated materials handling equipment. Through technical leadership and a commitment to service quality, you will support the client by utilising a broad range of skills, including software, electrical, and controls, taking a proactive approach to improve performance and reliability.
Your main responsibilities:
Acting as the client's primary point of contact regarding controls and software issues
Carrying out effective fault finding and occasional modification of industrial control systems
Identify and implement updates or upgrades to the PLC and automation control systems
Respond to automation faults and breakdowns promptly, ensuring minimal downtime
Prioritise system faults and optimise uptime and availability of onsite automated materials handling equipment including conveyers, Auto Store solutions, and robotics.
Support the delivery, installation, commissioning, and testing of upgrades and enhancements
Your qualifications and experience:
Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship, ONC/HNC or equivalent qualification in engineering
Experience in fault finding and basic modification of PLC programs (Siemens and/or Beckhoff)
Experience of Profibus/ASi communications
Experience of Variable Speed Drives, Motors, and Safety Circuits
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
