Job summary

Deutsche Bank seeks an Automation Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for Fixed Income Trading in London. The role is a 6-month contract with a hybrid work pattern: 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

You will automate start-of-day checks, build observability, and drive reliability for critical trading services. The ideal candidate has proven SRE/DevOps experience, strong scripting skills (Python, Shell), and familiarity with OpenTelemetry, OpenSearch, Grafana, and modern monitoring.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in SRE/Production Engineering/DevOps roles.
• Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Shell).
• Experience with observability tools and platforms.
• Experience with real-time financial services or trading platforms is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Create scripts to automate Start of Day/Week checks across critical trading services and infrastructure.
• Ensure automated checks are repeatable, auditable, and provide evidence of readiness and remediation actions.
• Develop dashboards, alerts, and workflows to identify failures and ownership.
• Replace manual processes with reliable automation to reduce TOIL and risk.
• Design, deploy, and maintain observability using OpenTelemetry and/or OpenSearch.
• Build/ improve monitoring, alerting, tracing, and logging with Grafana and Geneos.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and improve resilience.
• Support change, incident and problem management with clear documentation.

On behalf of Deutsche Bank, we are looking for aSite Reliability Engineer for a 6 month contract based in the bank’s London office on a hybrid working model of 3 days per week in the office and 2 from home.

Key responsibilities:

• Create scripts that automate Start of Day and Start of Week checks across critical trading services, dependencies and infrastructure (TOIL automation).
• Ensure automated checks are repeatable, auditable, resilient and provide clear evidence of platform readiness, exceptions and remediation actions.
• Develop actionable dashboards, alerts and workflows that rapidly identify failed checks, business impact and ownership.
• Replace manual operational processes with reliable automation to reduce TOIL, operational risk and recovery time.
• Help design, deploy and maintain observability solutions using OpenTelemetry and/or OpenSearch.
• Build and improve monitoring, alerting, tracing and logging capabilities using tools such as Grafana and Geneos.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, drive root cause analysis and improve system resilience, performance and scalability.
• Support change, incident and problem management processes, maintaining clear technical and operational documentation.

Skills and qualifications:

• Proven experience in SRE, Production Engineering, DevOps or production automation roles.
• Demonstrable experience automating operational readiness, health-check or control processes in a large enterprise environment.
• Excellent scripting and automation skills using Python, Shell or similar technologies.
• Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry deployments and modern observability platforms.
• Strong knowledge of OpenSearch, Grafana, Geneos and enterprise monitoring solutions.
• Experience supporting real-time, financial services or trading platforms is highly desirable.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership and deliver with minimal supervision.
