The company are seeking an experienced and driven Automation Manager to lead the development, implementation, and optimisation of automation systems across a high-volume manufacturing environment.

About The Role
As Automation Manager, you will be responsible for identifying automation opportunities, overseeing projects from concept to commissioning, and ensuring seamless integration with existing production operations. Youll play a key role in driving efficiency, consistency, and innovation on the factory floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, planning, and execution of automation projects across the site
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce downtime, and eliminate manual processes
Develop and implement efficient systems, including automation capex equipment to increase productivity and reduce waste.
Analyse existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement.
Use lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to streamline operations.
Evaluate and upgrade existing equipment for better performance.
Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure products meet established standards.
Investigate and address production defects or inefficiencies.
Collect and analyse production data to monitor performance and identify trends.
Use predictive analytics to anticipate potential issues and mitigate risks.
Provide ongoing support to production teams for troubleshooting and process adjustments.
Ensure that manufacturing processes comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Show Genuine Interest: Take time to understand team members' roles, challenges, and goals.
Cross-Functional Teams: Involve people from different departments (e.g., production, quality, and maintenance) in problem-solving sessions.
Involve in Decision-Making: Seek input from operators and technicians on practical challenges and potential solutions.
Skill Development: Provide training on new processes, tools, or technologies to build confidence and expertise.
Recognize and Celebrate Contributions.
Encourage Ideas: Create an environment where employees feel safe suggesting new ideas or questioning existing methods.
Feedback Loops: Implement systems to collect, evaluate, and act on suggestions from the shop floor.
Set Expectations: Clearly outline goals, timelines, and roles in projects to avoid confusion and build trust.
Be Present: Spend time on the shop floor to understand day-to-day operations and challenges.
Share metrics and visual representations (e.g., charts or dashboards) to demonstrate how improvements benefit the team and organization.
Highlight measurable progress, such as reduced downtime or improved quality, to keep teams motivated.
Skills And Experience
- Proven experience in a similar automation-focused role within a high-speed or complex manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of PLC, SCADA systems, and industrial networking.
- Project management experience, from concept through to commissioning.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-moving setting.
- A bachelors degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing).
- Certifications in Lean Six Sigma or related areas are a plus.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing principles, materials, and processes.
- Familiarity with CAD software, automation tools, and process simulation.
- Ability to identify root causes of inefficiencies and implement effective solutions.
- Proficient in data analysis and process modelling.
