Automation Manager

Opportunity:

NIRAS is currently recruiting an experienced Automation Manager who, in collaboration with our major projects and engineering services group, will support our client, a prestigious multinational healthcare solutions and pharmaceutical products manufacturer, at their leading sterile healthcare solutions manufacturing facility in Liverpool.

Based on site, the Automation Manager will be responsible for working with the project team to create, manage, and implement the automation strategy for our client's capacity expansion project. This role will report to the site Project Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Build, support, design, and implement a full automation package for the expansion project, including:
  • SCADA systems
  • PLC’s
  • Automated instruments
  • PC Controllers
  • Data Historians
  • Manage digital stakeholders, internally and externally, including working with the site control partner.
  • Write URS and execute DQ / OQ / PQ activities as part of project execution.
  • Ensure functional operation of Floor IT Systems hardware (PCs, HMIs).
  • Perform Risk Management, translate results into action and implementation plans, and execute.
  • Analyze fault data to support improvements and upgrades.
  • Handle automation project work outside primary project scope as required.
  • Education Requirements:

    • Electrical, Electronic, or Control Systems Engineering qualification at HND level or higher; a Degree is preferred.
    • Engineering qualifications with suitable training and experience in the above systems.
    • Electrician/Instrumentation/Mechatronic Technician with training and experience in the above systems.
    • Specific training and education in engineering fields and their implementation in the pharmaceutical industry are preferred.

    Experience Requirements:

    • 5+ years' experience working in project or automation roles, ideally within the Pharma or Food industry.
    • At least 5 years' experience in a similar field.
    • Experience working on >£5M strategic projects.
