Job summary

Pharmaron Hoddesdon is seeking an Undergraduate Industrial Placement Student in Automation in Chemistry for a 12-month period. You will join a team using modern automated chemistry platforms to design, test and optimize workflows for organic synthesis.

You will work with chemists and data scientists, applying Python skills to develop and automate processes, while developing practical lab experience and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree with a significant Chemical Engineering or Organic Chemistry component.
• Knowledge of Python fundamentals.
• Demonstrated track record of Python programming (e.g. GitHub) is preferred.
• Predicted 1st or 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent).
• Strong teamwork skills and excellent verbal and written communication.
• Good problem-solving abilities, logic and mathematics; attention to detail.
• Well-organised and confident in working independently.

Responsibilities

• Develop practical skills and gain exposure to automating chemical process development.
• Contribute to a methodology-based project with guidance from a lab-based chemist.
• Work alongside chemists and data scientists to deliver new automation workflows for organic synthesis.
