Job summary

Adecco in the United Kingdom seeks an Automation Engineer (6-month contract) to provide software support for site automation systems and ensure reliable operations on a Top Tier COMAH site.

You will translate Process Engineering requirements into robust software solutions, maintain safeties, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to minimise disruption, while documenting changes and maintaining HSEQ compliance.

Qualifications

  • Experience in control engineering on process automation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of HSEQ standards in COMAH environments.
  • Experience with Emerson DeltaV and batch process automation.
  • Ability to prepare project documentation.
  • Proactive, independent worker able to join cross-functional teams.

Automation Engineer (6-month contract)

Our client is seeking a talented and motivated Automation Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role is crucial for providing software support for site automation systems and ensuring the smooth operation of critical processes.

Role Purpose:
As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality software solutions that enhance the efficiency of automation systems. Your expertise will play a vital role in translating Process Engineering requirements into effective software code, ensuring safe and reliable operations on a Top Tier COMAH site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow Safe Systems of Work to uphold the highest HSEQ standards in all daily activities.
  • Implement changes within agreed timelines while meeting performance parameters.
  • Devise and execute control strategies to address production bottlenecks identified by Production Management.
  • Ensure both temporary and permanent modifications are conducted safely and securely.
  • Manage interfaces between engineering, production, and process control systems, demonstrating a thorough understanding of each.
  • Diagnose process control issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with design teams to coordinate and execute projects efficiently, minimising impact on production assets.

Critical Knowledge & Experience:

  • Proven experience in Control Engineering, particularly with Emerson DeltaV.
  • Relevant engineering design experience in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of HSEQ standards and their application in a Top Tier COMAH environment.
  • Familiarity with Chemical Batch Unit Operations and Batch Process Automation principles.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive documentation for assigned projects.

  • Aptitude for adhering to guidelines, procedures, and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of liaising with technical staff across all levels and functions.
  • High standards of work with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills with the capability to plan, schedule, and coordinate work effectively.
  • A proactive self-starter who can work independently as well as within a cross-functional team.
  • Proficient problem-solving abilities.
