Role Title: Automation Engineer
Location: Sheffield Hybrid - 3 days in the office is mandatory
Start Date: 08/09/2025
End Date: 31/01/2026
Rate: £550 per day - PAYE via umbrella only

Overview:
We seek a skilled Automation Engineer with expertise in GIT, shell scripting, Ansible, Python FAST API integration, HashiCorp Vault, and Linux system administration. Knowledge of YUM repositories and RPM packaging is a plus.
Note that we are looking for a foundation in DBA skills; however, it is a broader engineering role with the other skills we are really looking for.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Administer and optimize Oracle databases for performance and reliability.
2. Develop and maintain shell scripts for automation.
3. Automate tasks using Ansible.
4. Manage YUM repositories and create RPM packages.
5. Perform Linux system administration and troubleshooting in line with Oracle databases.
6. Integrate APIs to streamline database operations.
7. Apply patches, upgrades, and troubleshoot database issues.
8. Collaborate with teams and ensure compliance with security standards.
9. Document processes and support database-related projects.

Qualifications:

1. Proven experience as an Oracle DBA with understanding of Oracle deployed in various patterns e.g., RAC, Data Guard, and VCS.
2. Expertise in shell scripting, Ansible, and Linux administration.
3. Experience with YUM repositories and RPM packaging.
4. Knowledge of APIs and SQL Server is a plus.
5. Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
6. Good understanding of Agile Methodology.
7. Good understanding of DevOps practices and tools.

Preferred:

1. Certification in Oracle Database Administration.
2. Certification in Linux Administration.
