Job summary

ATS Global in Edinburgh is seeking a Controls & Automation Engineer to join our growing automation team. You will design, develop and configure automation solutions for industrial customers and manage projects from pre-sales through commissioning.

You will work with Siemens and Rockwell platforms and develop SCADA solutions, helping customers achieve reliable, efficient operations. You will travel to customer sites, including internationally, and collaborate with our Business Development and

Qualifications

• A relevant engineering qualification and/or practical engineering experience.
• Knowledge of Siemens or Rockwell automation systems.
• Experience with SCADA technologies.
• Knowledge of functional safety systems.
• Experience with automation hardware such as VSDs and control panels.
• Experience delivering automation projects from design through commissioning.
• Clear communication and a structured, self-organised approach to work.
• Willingness to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and configure automation solutions for industrial customers.

At ATS Global, we are looking for a Controls & Automation Engineer to join our growing automation team. You will work closely with customers and colleagues across the business, delivering automation solutions for both existing and new customers.

This is a hands‑on role with the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle – from pre‑sales and solution design through development, configuration, testing and commissioning.

What will you do?

As a Controls & Automation Engineer, you will:

• Design, develop and configure automation solutions for industrial customers.
• Support projects from pre‑sales and technical concept through to commissioning.
• Work with automation platforms such as Siemens or Rockwell.
• Develop and work with SCADA systems, with experience in FactoryTalk, WinCC, Ignition or Wonderware being an advantage.
• Work with automation hardware, including VSDs and control panels.
• Contribute to control system design, testing and technical documentation.
• Deliver small to medium‑size automation projects while keeping quality, deadlines and customer expectations in focus.
• Work closely with our Business Development and Engineering teams to understand customer challenges and develop the right technical solutions.
• Build strong relationships with customers and become a trusted technical partner.
• Identify opportunities to further develop solutions and services for our customers.
• Continuously expand your knowledge of automation, IT and manufacturing technologies.

You will ideally have:

• A relevant engineering qualification and/or practical engineering experience.
