Job summary

Premier Foods in Barnsley is seeking an Automation Engineer to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis. You will be a fully engaged team member and will assist the engineering team to maintain site electrical standards and ensure the site remains compliant with electrical regulations.

You will drive CI initiatives with the electrical and automation agenda, support and train engineering teams with maintenance and fault-finding activities, and supervise engineers and outside contractors.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical/automation apprenticeship.
• Qualified to a minimum HNC level (or equivalent) electrical/controls discipline.
• Advanced PLC skills - Allen Bradley (Rockwell Logix).
• Experienced with Allen Bradley servo drives, inverters and network controls.
• Understanding of control systems and ability to optimise them.
• Experience in food manufacturing is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Drive CI initiatives with the electrical and automation agenda.
• Support and train engineering teams with maintenance and fault-finding activities.
• Custodian of electrical documentation, drawing and software backups to the agreed site standard.
• Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure site is always compliant against electrical standards.
• Work with the maintenance planner to schedule electrical projects.
• Ensure correct electrical critical spare parts and consignment stock are maintained.
• Supervise engineers and outside contractors.

• Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure site is always compliant against electrical standards.
• Work with the maintenance planner to schedule electrical projects.
• Ensure that we hold the correct electrical critical spare parts, and the consignment stock is maintained.
• Supervise engineers and outside contractors.

What we need from you:

• Recognised electrical/automation apprenticeship
• Qualified to a minimum HNC level (or equivalent) electrical/controls discipline.
