Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment Limited is seeking a Junior Controls Engineer to join a specialist automation business in Huddersfield. You will design and deliver bespoke industrial control systems and work across the full project lifecycle from costing and schematic design through PLC programming, panel layout, testing and commissioning.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years' experience in controls/automation.
HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Experience building or assembling industrial automation control systems.
Siemens/Omron PLC/HMI experience preferred.
Knowledge of Modbus/Profinet preferred.
Strong fault-finding and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design customer-specific control philosophies and electrical schematics using relay logic and PLC programming.
Design control panel layouts, wiring diagrams and Bills of Materials using CAD software.
Develop and support PLC and HMI programming tasks, including Siemens systems.
Attend client sites for commissioning and technical support.
Support project costing and testing activities.
