Job description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced automation architect to support the transition of automation equipment between facilities for an automotive OEM. The role encompasses all stages from study through to realization, expected until February 2027.

Responsibilities

During the study phase

  • Objective: Finalize the technical file considering needs and specifications
    • Inventory of the existing situation.
    • Define deliverables according to technical specifications.
    • Validate supplier studies (Risk analysis, Sistema, Functional analyses, Electrical diagrams, Equipment files, Component choices, Simulation models, Test programs, Spare parts list, Schedule).
    • Review supplier self-checking files.
    • Verify supplier security clearances and training.

During the provisional phase - realization at the supplier's site

  • Objective: Ensure manufacturing and testing comply with requirements and schedule
    • Follow-up on non-conformities from previous phases.
    • Monitor content and schedule of tests, including on-site durations.
    • Verify electrical realization, cabinet assembly, and auto-control audits.
    • Check safety wiring, programming, and safety PLC parameters.
    • Review safety documentation and operator manuals.
    • Validate test procedures and results.

During the assembly phase - on-site implementation

  • Objective: Ensure assembly and documentation meet requirements and schedule
    • Follow-up on non-conformities.
    • Ensure adherence to prevention plans.
    • Coordinate electrical assembly and conduct site audits.
    • Monitor on-site testing and automation component implementation.
    • Verify PLC programming quality.
    • Validate operator training content.
    • Check deliverables and documentation.

During the tests phase - Provisional Acceptance

  • Objective: Achieve an installation compliant with specifications for production commencement
    • Follow-up on non-conformities.
    • Validate power-up procedures and safety device operation.
    • Confirm batch and workshop test results.
    • Organize statutory audits.
    • Review automation feedback and spare parts.
    • Validate staff training and operating instructions.

During the Ramping-up phase – Definitive Acceptance (RD)

  • Objective: Optimize performance and finalize documentation for delivery
    • Validate equipment reliability and implement corrective actions.
    • Follow-up on non-conformities.
    • Validate electrical inspection reports and final documentation.

Across all stages

  • Technical progress responsibility: Participate in analyses to ensure process results align with standards and cost objectives. Negotiate with clients and suppliers to optimize product-process integration.
  • Business management: Manage suppliers and subcontractors to meet quality, cost, deadline, and performance goals.
  • Know-how capitalization: Use engineering tools to document and share knowledge.
Essential skills
  • Automation management with experience in OV automation standards.
  • Experience working in a bodyshop environment.
Experience
  • Background in controls and automation.
  • Previous experience with an Automotive OEM preferred.
  • Knowledge of Rockwell Architecture.
