Automation Associate Consultant
Position Overview

As an Automation Associate Consultant, you’ll partner with customers to understand their challenges and turn ideas into effective solutions, blending strong stakeholder engagement with hands‑on delivery.

Salary & Benefits

The budgeted salary for this role is between £50,000 and £60,000, depending on experience.

Hybrid working

We recognise the benefits that remote and flexible working brings.

We operate a hybrid working policy that allows our employees to balance time in the office and time from home. Each team within our organisation can decide how to implement this policy. If you have any questions after applying, please reach out to our recruitment team.

Please note you need to be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC) for this role. This typically requires British nationality and 5 years residency in the UK.

Responsibilities
  • Combine customer-facing consulting with hands‑on delivery.
  • Engage confidently with stakeholders, ask purposeful questions, challenge assumptions constructively and turn business needs into clear, practical outcomes.
  • Facilitate customer workshops and meetings, document requirements and user stories, shape appropriate solutions, present recommendations and build solutions using Microsoft Power Platform technologies.
  • Work on smaller build or advisory engagements, you will be expected to manage your work from discovery through to completion, including planning, stakeholder communication, delivery, testing, handover and closure, with proportionate support and assurance from senior colleagues.
  • Alongside larger or more architecturally complex engagements, you will work as part of a wider delivery team alongside an architect, consultants and other associate consultants.
  • You will own agreed workstreams, collaborate effectively, **escalate** risks early and contribute to a coherent overall solution.
What Success Looks Like
  • Integrate effectively with the wider Automation team, working collaboratively, actively sharing knowledge, contributing to team discussions, and being open to and acting on feedback from colleagues.
  • Make a positive contribution to customer engagements, demonstrating confidence and professionalism in customer meetings and workshops, with positive feedback from the customer and/or project lead.
  • Understand and follow the Automation team’s end‑to‑end processes, and be able to explain how an engagement moves from sales and pricing through signature, scheduling and resource allocation, into discovery, design, delivery, testing and handover.
  • Demonstrate growing ownership and consulting capability, taking responsibility for allocated activities, translating customer needs into clear requirements and user stories, managing commitments effectively, and knowing when to work independently versus seek support from the wider team.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Confident and credible in customer‑facing situations, including presenting to both business and technical audiences.
  • Strong facilitation skills, with the ability to run discovery workshops, requirements sessions, demonstrations, playback sessions and project meetings.
  • Able to build rapport, listen actively, ask effective follow‑up questions and create an environment in which stakeholders can explain needs, constraints and concerns.
  • Able to explain technical concepts in clear, accessible language and adapt communication to the audience.
  • Strong written communication, including concise meeting outputs, requirements, user stories, recommendations and delivery documentation.
  • Practical experience designing and building solutions with Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power Apps, Power Automate and Copilot Studio.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online, with awareness of how Dynamics 365, Dataverse and Azure services can form part of a broader solution.
  • Able to apply sound solution‑development practices, including security, accessibility, data protection, error handling, testing, documentation, supportability and environment‑aware deployment.
  • Awareness of Power Platform governance, application lifecycle management and the importance of working within agreed architecture and organisational standards.
  • Relevant Microsoft Power Platform certification, or commitment to achieve agreed certifications as part of the role.
  • Highly developed critical and logical thinking, with the ability to analyse information, identify gaps or contradictions, test assumptions and reach evidence‑based conclusions.
  • Able to move beyond a stated request to understand the underlying business problem, desired outcomes, users, process, data, controls and constraints.
  • Able to translate business needs into well‑structured requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria, maintaining traceability through delivery.
  • Sound judgement in balancing user experience, technical feasibility, risk, maintainability and value.
  • Able to manage small build or advisory engagements through discovery, planning, delivery, testing, handover and closure, with appropriate senior oversight.
  • Organised and dependable, with the ability to manage priorities, actions, risks, issues, dependencies and stakeholder expectations.
