Job Description:

Overview: Join the Transport Department of West Yorkshire Police as an Auto Installation Technician within the Vehicle Preparation Unit (VPU). Work with a team of skilled technicians and fabricators to commission and install police equipment on vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  1. Commission a variety of vehicles to meet operational standards and legal requirements.
  2. Install specialized police equipment such as emergency lighting, CCTV, ANPR, trackers, telematics, and radios.
  3. Apply vehicle livery and anti-bandit film to windows.
  4. Assist in designing and manufacturing equipment for police use.
  5. Attend training for professional development.
  6. Complete all necessary paperwork accurately.
  7. Work at various locations around the Force area as needed.
  8. Remove police equipment from vehicles for disposal.

Qualifications: Level 3 City and Guilds/NVQ in Motor Vehicle Engineering / Auto Electrics or equivalent, with relevant experience. A full UK/European Driving Licence is essential.
