Autism Teaching Assistant - Warmley

£90 - £125 per day, depending on experience
Full-Time - Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Term time only
BS30 location, easily accessible by public transport

A fantastic Special Needs School in Warmley - BS30 - is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Autism Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as next week. In this role, you will work closely with one child who has a primary diagnosis of Autism, as well as other associated additional needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychology Graduate or Teaching Assistant/Carer looking to further their experience with SEND.

As a 1:1 Autism Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the student, helping them engage in classroom activities and develop their independence. You will help the student build positive relationships with other pupils and aid them with both their verbal and non-verbal communication. Finally, you may also assist the class teacher and offer additional support to other pupils when needed.

The school is looking for an enthusiastic and bubbly 1:1 Autism Teaching Assistant who has a passion for supporting children with special educational needs. A recent graduate would be perfect for this role, with a relevant degree in Psychology, Criminology, or Sociology. Any experience working with Autism would be beneficial, whether professional or personal. Empathy and flexibility are also important skills!

What we need from you:

  1. Maths and English GCSE grade A*-C / 9-4 or equivalent
  2. Experience working with children - for example tutoring, coaching, mentoring, childcare, assisting in a nursery, or similar experience within a classroom.
  3. Confident to converse with parents, students, and members of the public
  4. Resilient and confident to work with challenging behaviour
