Job summary

Surrey Independent Living Charity (SILC) is seeking a warm, upbeat personal assistant to support Skyla, an 8-year-old with autism, ADHD, and PDA. The role focuses on fun outings and light, non-medical support.

The position is Saturdays 4 hours (49 weeks) with 10 hours during school holidays (13 weeks). The role offers a friendly, active routine and a DBS check can be arranged. The pay is £14.80 per hour.

Qualifications

• Experience with autism/ADHD/PDA desirable.
• DBS check is available (we can arrange).
• Ability to plan activities and engage a child in outings.

Responsibilities

• Take Skyla on fun community outings (swimming, cinema, walks, etc.).
• Provide respite for parents.
• Light support: snacks and drinks preparation.
• Encourage independence while ensuring Skyla’s safety after activities.

Standard hourly rate: £14.80

We’re seeking a warm, upbeat PA to support our 8-year-old daughter, Skyla. She is autistic, has ADHD and PDA, so experience with these would be helpful. Skyla is friendly, bubbly and loves being out and about, choosing activities herself.

You’ll Support Skyla With

• Fun community outings (swimming, soft play, cinema, walks, horse-related activities, museums, colouring, baking)


• Providing respite for parents


• Light support such as preparing snacks and drinks


• Encouraging independence — no personal care, but checking she’s dried properly after swimming

We’re Looking For Someone Who

• Is energetic, positive, and child-focused


• Enjoys being active and planning fun days out


• Has experience with autism/ADHD/PDA (desirable)


• Has a valid DBS check (we can arrange this)
