Job summary

Autism East Midlands is seeking an Autism Support Worker in Retford to help autistic people engage in activities they enjoy and to develop independent living skills. You will provide holistic support including personal care, medication administration, and community integration.

No experience is required and full training is provided. The role offers a varied rota with early, late, sleep-ins, weekends and bank holidays, with opportunities to grow in CALM, Positive Behaviour Support and the Care

Responsibilities

• 1. Ensure high standards of professional care and support independent living, wellbeing, and emotional needs.
• 2. Maintain cleanliness across the setting, following IPC measures.
• 3. Build positive relationships with service users, families and colleagues.
• 4. Familiarise with Autism East Midlands systems and care processes.
• 5. Keep accurate, secure records and comply with GDPR.
• 6. Liaise with families, the clinical team and external agencies while safeguarding confidentiality.
• 7. Develop an understanding of autism and apply it in practice.
• 8. Incorporate CALM and Positive Behaviour Support into daily practice.
• 9. Complete Care Certificate and mandatory training.
• 10. Access IT systems and log incidents as required.
• 11. Follow service finance procedures.
• 12. Work flexibly according to the rota and contract terms.
• 13. Communicate effectively within the team to ensure continuity of care.
• 14. Understand communication methods of people supported.
• 15. Work safely, following support plans, risk assessments and policies.
• 16. Provide personal care when required.
• 17. Support service users in line with individual support plans.
• 18. Adhere to Autism East Midlands Code of Conduct.
