GSL Education are currently recruiting for a committed Autism Support Worker to join a highly supportive specialist education setting in Poole. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity to work closely with children and young people who require consistent, individualised care and structured support to reach their full potential.

About the Role / Role Overview

As an Autism Support Worker, you will provide daily, person-centred support to pupils with ASC, helping them access the curriculum, develop social communication skills, and manage their emotional regulation. You will be a key figure in the classroom, offering both academic and pastoral support, and ensuring pupils feel safe, respected and understood.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support children and young people with Autism in both 1:1 and small group contexts.
• Use visual aids, communication tools (e.g., PECs, Makaton) and sensory strategies to enhance pupil engagement.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation through consistency and structured approaches.
• Work closely with class teachers, therapists and SENCOs to implement EHCPs and learning plans.
• Encourage independence, life skills and confidence through practical learning.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress tracking and support reviews.

Job Requirements:

• Proven experience supporting individuals with Autism, ideally within an education or care setting.
• Knowledge of ASC-related behaviours, communication strategies and sensory needs.
• A calm, empathetic and adaptive personality with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Qualifications in education, health and social care, or psychology are advantageous but not essential.
• Understanding of safeguarding procedures and commitment to pupil welfare.
• Have anupdated CV(covering thelast ten years barring any unexplained gaps) andan enhanced DBSregistered to theUpdate Service(or be willing to apply for one).
