The Northumberland Autism Support Service comprises 6 qualified teachers providing advice, support, and training for schools across Northumberland. Managed by the Autism Lead Practitioner, the service operates from Morpeth and works across various schools and settings.
The Autism Support Workers assist under the guidance of the Specialist Teacher for Autism to upskill staff and support children aged 3 to 16 with Autism or social communication needs. The role emphasizes building capacity within schools through consultation, modeling, and training.
Ideal candidates will have significant experience working with children with Autism/Social Communication Needs, knowledge of evidence-based interventions, and a commitment to inclusive education. Candidates must be highly motivated, organized, possess good writing skills, and be willing to travel across Northumberland.
