Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting an Autism Support Worker to join a specialist SEND provision in Gateshead, starting immediately on a term-time basis. You will support pupils aged 5-19 with complex learning needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and physical or sensory impairments.

The role involves one-to-one and small group support, assisting with personal care, adapting activities, promoting engagement, and recording progress, with safeguarding and compliance at its core.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Working alongside the class teacher to adapt lesson activities and resources.
  • Promoting engagement and positive learning outcomes.
  • Supporting behaviour management in line with school strategies.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships to encourage communication and independence.
  • Monitoring and recording pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing.
  • Following all safeguarding procedures and school policies.

Autism Support Worker

Milk Education is more than a supply partner — we’re a community for educators. We’re currently recruiting for an Autism Support Worker to join a specialist SEND provision in Gateshead, starting immediately on a term-time basis.

This setting supports pupils aged 5-19 with complex learning needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and physical or sensory impairments.
