Job Title: Autism Support Worker
Location: Blandford
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about supporting individuals with Autism? GSL Education are seeking a motivated Autism Support Worker to join a school in Blandford, providing vital assistance to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role is perfect for someone who is patient, compassionate, and committed to making a positive impact on children's lives.

As an Autism Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in helping students with ASD navigate their learning environment. You will provide tailored support to meet their individual needs, ensuring they feel safe, understood, and engaged in their education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with Autism.
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Support students in developing communication, social, and independence skills.
  • Create a structured and predictable learning environment to reduce anxiety.
  • Help students regulate emotions and manage sensory sensitivities.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure student progress.
  • Use alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton) if required.
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and positive classroom environment.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children or young people with Autism is desirable but not essential.
  • A strong understanding of ASD and the challenges students may face.
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to the individual needs of students and provide personalised support.
  • Strong teamwork skills and a proactive approach to supporting learning.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Autism Awareness Training) are advantageous but not required.
  • Have an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
