Job summary

Teach Now in Barnet is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support autistic pupils in a rotational role across Year 2 and Year 5. You will work within a welcoming school that prioritises inclusion and collaborative practice.

The post involves supporting two verbal autistic pupils, with flexible allocation across classes and strong collaboration with the wider SEN team. An Enhanced DBS is required and CPD opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• This role requires proven experience supporting autistic pupils in school settings.
• Ability to use respectful language and appropriate strategies with autistic children.
• Calm, patient and emotionally attuned, able to work independently with team support.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class support to autistic pupils during lessons.
• Help pupils complete adapted or differentiated work.
• Support pupils to regulate by stepping out of class when needed.
• Apply calm, consistent, low-level behaviour strategies.
• Support social understanding and classroom routines.
• Work flexibly across classes as part of the SEN team.
