Job summary

Career Choices Dewis Gyrfa Ltd is seeking a caring Personal Assistant to support an 18-year-old autistic young man in South Bristol. The role centers on helping him build independence, stay safe, and enjoy local activities, with weekend hours and flexible holiday support.

You will help him access the community, travel by bus, manage small purchases, and participate in activities he enjoys while fostering routine and trust. DBS check is essential, driving license and car preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting autistic individuals and/or people with learning difficulties.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
• Ability to work weekend hours during term time and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Access local community safely and confidently with him.
• Travel on buses and build confidence using public transport.
• Develop money management skills while shopping.
• Attend activities he enjoys and encourage independence at his pace.
• Maintain a safe environment and recognise overwhelming situations.
• Understand his communication style and personal triggers; stay emotionally regulated.
