Job summary

Five Education is seeking an In Class Support Assistant to support pupils in primary schools in Shepton Mallet, with a focus on autism support. You will work closely with teachers to engage pupils in learning activities and daily routines, helping with communication, independence and positive behaviour.

The role suits calm, patient individuals who can adapt to individual needs and structured routines, and who understand safeguarding and child welfare. Previous SEND experience is helpful.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with autism (professional or personal).
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach to pupils.
• Ability to adapt to individual needs and structured routines.
• Understanding safeguarding and child welfare.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils with autism, 1:1 or in small groups.
• Helping pupils engage with learning activities and daily routines.
• Encouraging communication, independence and positive behaviour.
• Working closely with teachers and other support staff.
