Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant

Job Description:

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our team in Sheffield, S2. This role involves providing support to children with autism, helping them achieve their educational and social goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with autism.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Work closely with classroom teachers and other support staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students in managing their behaviour and developing social skills.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
  • Experience working with children with autism or in a similar role.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a strong understanding of the needs of children with autism.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in Special Educational Needs (SEN) is desirable.
