Job summary

Sprowston Infant School is seeking an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to join a dedicated staff team in a specialist autism base (SRB) with 26 spaces across 3 mixed age classes. A passion for supporting children with additional needs and working as part of a high-calibre team is essential, with safeguarding and flexible, responsive teaching core to the role.

Applicants should have experience in SEN, strong communication, and the ability to lead teaching assistants while planning engaging

Qualifications

• Experience with teaching children with additional needs (mainstream or special provision).
• A passion for learning and promoting independence.
• Ability to treat every child as an individual.
• Excellent communication skills matched to pupil needs.
• Ability to direct a team of teaching assistants and support staff.
• Ability to plan engaging, relevant and challenging lessons.
• Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and attainment.
• Be flexible and adapt positively to change.
• Show initiative and work independently.
• Experience working closely with parents.
• Full driving license.
• Experience of being a SENCo.
• Experience of working with children with ASD.
• Level 2 or higher ASD training.
• Speech and language training - Signalong, ELKLAN, core boards, PECs.
• Paediatric first aid trained.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality lessons for a mixed-age SEN cohort.
• Ensure pupil progress is tracked and records updated.
• Coordinate and support teaching assistants and welfare staff across 3 classes.
• Foster positive relationships with parents and carers.
• Demonstrate flexible, responsive teaching approaches to meet individual needs.
