This rewarding role offers the chance to make a genuine difference in the lives of students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Complex Learning Difficulties.

The school is exceptionally well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a hydrotherapy suite and sensory play rooms, designed to support student engagement, learning, and wellbeing.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Supporting Learning and Development: Work 1:1 or in small groups, following students' individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) to support a variety of learning activities.
  2. Promoting Emotional Wellbeing: Foster a nurturing environment, helping students regulate emotions, build confidence, and engage positively with their peers and surroundings.
  3. Collaborating with the Classroom Teacher: Assist in planning and delivering creative, engaging lessons, adapting activities and resources to ensure accessibility for all students.
  4. Using Specialist Resources: Work with tools like Alternative Communication Boards, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) cards, and sensory equipment. (No prior experience required - full training provided!)
  5. Personal Care and Daily Living Support: Support students with activities such as dressing, feeding, and personal hygiene where required, ensuring dignity and respect are maintained at all times.

We're seeking individuals with a caring, proactive mindset who are passionate about supporting young people. Ideally, you'll have:

  1. Experience Working with Children: This can be professional (e.g., in a school, nursery, or care setting) or personal (e.g., supporting a family member with additional needs).
  2. Special Educational Needs Experience (Desirable): Prior experience working with SEN or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs is an advantage, but not essential.
  3. Adaptable and Positive Attitude: An outgoing, approachable, and resilient personality, with the confidence to take initiative in a busy classroom setting.
  4. Commitment to Safeguarding: A strong understanding of (or willingness to learn) safeguarding procedures, ensuring student safety and wellbeing at all times.

Benefits:

  1. Ongoing Support and Training: Access to continuous professional development opportunities, including SEN-specific training courses.
  2. Variety and Progression: Work across different classrooms and year groups, gaining valuable experience in a specialist setting.
  3. Supportive Environment: Join a dedicated, friendly team passionate about making a difference for students with SEN.
