Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust invites a qualified Speech and Language Therapist to join the assessment and diagnostic MDT for children and young people aged 0-18 with complex neurodevelopmental needs, including potential autism.

The post is 0.6 WTE on a permanent basis, based in our single centre with supportive multidisciplinary colleagues and access to office, clinic facilities and parking.

Qualifications

• Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with NHS experience.
• Experience in neuro-developmental disorders and autism spectrum assessment preferred.
• Ability to lead holistic diagnostic assessments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and lead assessment and diagnosis for children aged 0–18 with complex neuro-developmental needs.
• Case lead on holistic diagnostic assessments and contribute to further assessments.
• Formulate diagnoses where appropriate and provide expert advice to families.
• Identify strengths and difficulties of children and ensure governance of professional practice.
• Utilise data for audit, policy and service development and research.
• Support the clinical lead in planning and evaluating service development.
