Job summary

Milk Education, in partnership with a 2-19 SEND school in Ashington, Northumberland, is seeking an Autism Learning Mentor to support children with SEND in a specialist environment. Location: Ashington. Working hours: 8.30am-3.30pm Monday to Friday.

Start date: November 2026. You will provide 1:1 and small group support for students with autism and other needs, adapt activities, build positive relationships, and work with the SENDCo and staff to implement personalised learning and inclusive

Qualifications

Recent experience in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
Solid numeracy and literacy skills.
Calm, patient and empathetic approach with adaptability to individual needs.
Ability to work proactively, independently and as part of a team.
Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (or willingness to apply).

Responsibilities

Providing dedicated 1:1 and small group support for students with SEND.
Supporting students with Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language, SEMH and related needs.
Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.
Building positive relationships to encourage engagement, confidence and resilience.
Collaborating with the SENDCo, teachers and staff to implement personalised strategies.
Promoting a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
