Job summary

Elm Tree Primary Academy is a special school in Sandwell for autistic pupils from Reception to Year 6. The post holder will join a small team within Victoria Academies Trust and contribute to the school's growth as it reaches capacity.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic teacher with experience of autistic pupils, energetic, positive, and committed to high standards, safeguarding, and collaborative work with families and external agencies.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with autistic pupils.
• Ability to think creatively to support learning.
• Energetic, positive attitude and team player.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for the learning and achievement of all pupils in the class, ensuring equality of opportunity.
• Be responsible and accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct.
• Treat pupils with dignity, building relationships rooted in mutual respect.
• Work collaboratively with learners, parents/carers, academy councilors, staff and external agencies.
• Act within statutory frameworks and promote safeguarding of children and young people.
• Take responsibility for safeguarding welfare.
• Share or take responsibility for coordinating a subject or whole school area.
• Develop curriculum areas with monitoring and evaluation feeding the School Improvement Plan.
• Assist in production, evaluation and review of school policies.
