Job summary

Aspire People are seeking patient, observant and enthusiastic support staff to work with pupils with autism and communication needs across primary schools in Manchester and the surrounding areas. You will help pupils feel secure, understand expectations and participate in school life through structured activities and clear communication.

Role may be 1:1 or small group support within classrooms or specialist environments, with a focus on consistent routines and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Recent UK-based school experience supporting pupils with SEND in the last two years.
• Experience supporting autistic children or pupils with social communication needs beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support autistic pupils to access lessons, routines and activities.
• Use clear, consistent language and communication strategies.
• Help pupils understand transitions between activities and routines.
• Support visual timetables, now-and-next boards and other resources.
• Encourage communication, interaction and positive relationships with peers.
• Support sensory regulation and access to appropriate strategies.
• Break down learning activities into manageable steps.
• Promote independence, confidence and participation.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals involved in pupil support.
