DBS: Enhanced DBS required (on the Update Service or willing to apply)

We are seeking compassionate and experienced Autism Classroom Support Assistants to join primary schools across Liverpool, providing specialised support to pupils on the autism spectrum.

This role is an excellent opportunity for someone dedicated to helping autistic pupils access the curriculum and develop social and communication skills in a supportive and understanding environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • Assist teachers in implementing individualised learning plans and autism-friendly teaching strategies
  • Support pupils with communication, social interaction, and sensory needs
  • Help manage behaviour and promote positive engagement in learning activities
  • Work collaboratively with the SENCO, teaching staff, and families to monitor progress and adapt support
Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people with autism, preferably in a school setting
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Two relevant professional references
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm, flexible approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
