Autism Care Assistant for a young boy P/T@ £17.23/hr in Berwick-upon-tweed - FTE - £26.8k - Berwick-upon-Tweed - TD15

Main Duties

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Support Worker for an 11-year-old boy male child with Autism, a profound learning disability, Cognitive Development Delay, significant Sensory Needs and Hypermobility.

Ideally you will be energetic and passionate about working with children and be
someone who can make activities and experiences enjoyable and fulfilling for him.
You will have a high degree of initiative and be reliable and punctual.
The support will be offered to provide a range of activities within the local community to include walks in the park, countryside and woodlands. On occasions drives out in the car.
Overview of Role:

· Play & Engage: Help him to enjoy his favourite activities.
· Routine Support: Help with developing and following routines, which can provide him with a sense of security.
· Personal Care: Support with all personal care needs.
· Supervision & Safety: Close supervision will be always needed as he has no danger awareness and due to his Hypermobility has the aid of a wheelchair.
· Experience is preferred: Ideally you will have experience of working with children and/or young people who have complex needs.
· Empathy & Patience: You will have patience and empathy, so you build a secure relationship and work with him to reinforce positive communication and behaviour.
· Flexibility & Availability: This role requires someone who’s available during school holiday weeks only. There is some flexibility about which days the support takes place.
· Additional Essential Requirements: Car driver is essential and must have Business Insurance.
Hours

4 hours per week in all school holiday weeks, except during the summer six weeks holidays when there are 8 hours per week.
Rates of pay
£17.23 per hour. 5.6 weeks holiday (pro rata)
ILGPA Benefit Scheme, further details at interview.
Some out-of-pocket expenses will be met by the Employer.
