Authorised Person - Electrical - Aldermaston, Berkshire, RG7 4PR

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: £39,280 - £49,000 per annum + excellent benefits

Location and Work Environment

Location: RG7 4PR, between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking. Due to the classified nature of the work, limited opportunities for remote work. The successful candidate will primarily work on-site at AWE Aldermaston.

Role Overview

AWE is recruiting an Authorised Person (Electrical) to provide engineering safety services supporting operational and capital projects. The role involves advising on electrical safety practices in line with the AWE Engineering Safety Management System to ensure safe operations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Advise and undertake plant shutdowns and isolations
  2. Ensure baseline safety configurations
  3. Supervise nominated and instructed personnel undertaking electrical safety work
  4. Apply technical knowledge to engineered systems and structures
  5. Interpret and deliver requirements from the order book, including troubleshooting, quoting, reporting, designing, commissioning, and handover
  6. Identify and escalate business risks related to plant and systems
  7. Make evidence-based engineering decisions to resolve technical issues
Essential Experience and Qualifications
  • A recognised Electrical Engineering qualification (e.g., ONC/OND/HNC/Level 4 RFQ)
  • Knowledge of electrical safety legislation and regulations
  • Experience in delivering electrical safety engineering in industrial, manufacturing, or research environments
  • Experience in facilities engineering and maintenance over asset lifecycle

Additional Information

You must obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance, funded by AWE. Applicants must have been in the UK for the past 5 years for SC clearance or 10 years for DV clearance.
