Job summary

Halton Borough Council is seeking an experienced Internal Auditor to contribute to the development of a forward-thinking audit service. You will help strengthen risk management, governance and internal controls while drafting concise reports for Senior Management.

The role reports to the Audit and Investigations Manager, is full-time (37 hours per week), and offers a comprehensive benefits package including LGPS, life cover and flexible working arrangements.

Our Team:

The Internal Audit team is highly visible and well respected, and actively contributes to and supports the strategic direction of the Council through the delivery of an excellent customer-focused service.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced and committed Internal Auditor to participate in the development of a forward thinking and professional Internal Audit service. As an Auditor, you will be expected to contribute to the improvement of the Council’s risk management, control and governance processes by drafting and presenting clear, concise reports to Senior Management.

Hours: Full time (37 hours per week)

Your Contributions:

You will have responsibility for undertaking a varied portfolio of work across all areas of the Council. Reporting to the Audit and Investigations Manager and working under the guidance of a Senior Auditor, your work will provide assurance on the effectiveness of the organisation’s risk management, governance, policy, and internal control processes.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, will be able to demonstrate integrity and will have the ability to challenge established practices and ways of thinking. They will also have the ability to work with management to identify creative solutions to help improve governance, risk management and performance.
