Job description

Careers don't start here. They take off. Are you ready to kickstart your career in Audit in September 2026? This role is based in our Birmingham office.

Wage: £22,500 a year. Salary increases will incur year on year depending on how the student progresses. Training course: Accountancy or taxation professional (level 7). Hours: Monday - Friday, 37 hours 30 minutes a week. Start date: Tuesday 1 September 2026. Duration: 3 years. Positions available: 2.

As an Audit Trainee, you'll dive into real projects from day one. You'll:

  • Support audit fieldwork by reviewing financial documents such as invoices, bank statements, and payroll reports, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements.
  • Engage with clients to understand their systems and processes, attend year-end stocktakes, and contribute to audit testing and reporting in small teams.
  • Deliver high-quality work by managing deadlines, ensuring data accuracy, and collaborating with your team to meet client expectations.

What you'll learn: Course contents include building trusted and sustainable relationships, influencing the impact of business decisions, communicating effectively, identifying ethical dilemmas, taking ownership of allocated projects, evaluating information, and drawing accurate conclusions.

Training schedule: The apprentice will attend their nearest Kaplan training centre for various revision sessions, training, and exams.

Requirements: Essential qualifications include A Level in at least one subject in either Math, Business, etc. (grade BBC). Skills required include communication, IT, attention to detail, organisation, customer care, problem-solving, presentation, administrative, number, analytical, logical, team working, initiative, non-judgemental, and patience.
