Job summary

The National Audit Office (NAO) is seeking an Application Support Analyst to maintain reliable, secure, and effective audit systems used by around 700 financial audit users. You will help with incident management, controlled changes, and service improvement while coordinating with suppliers and internal teams.

Key responsibilities include incident ownership, issue diagnosis, testing for releases, and creating guidance materials to improve adoption and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting business-critical applications or digital services.
• Knowledge of IT service management processes (incident, problem, change, release).
• Ability to diagnose issues and work with suppliers for fixes.
• Experience supporting releases, upgrades, and patches with evidence recording.
• Ability to create user guidance and training materials.
• Using service data to monitor performance and drive improvement.
• Strong data skills and clear operational reporting.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality application support for users and own incidents through resolution.
• Investigate issues, identify recurring problems, and agree fixes with teams or suppliers.
• Handle access management, reviews and least-privilege evidence.
• Monitor availability, performance, capacity and data quality for services.
• Support change, release, and knowledge management activities.
• Plan functional/regression/user acceptance testing for changes.
• Coordinate supplier tickets with clear evidence and escalation when needed.
• Create and maintain support procedures and training materials.
• Support training and adoption of changes to users.
