Job Details

We are looking for an Audit Senior - Semi Senior to join our Technical London office Audit & Accounts team.

We would consider candidates studying toward their ACA / ACCA qualification (or equivalent) with ideally 1-2 years work experience. You can expect excellent training, ongoing support, and career development opportunities.

The purpose of this role is to support the Audit and Accounts teams providing advice, technical input regarding accounting standards, software, compliance, training, and identifying areas of improvement and streamlining processes.

This role would suit someone that is currently working in Audit looking for a change in direction while staying at the forefront of the industry.

Our specialist technical team is looking for someone that is passionate about the complexities of Audits, technically minded, and comfortable researching and solving complex issues.

Key Responsibilities

  1. To assist with providing technical support and advice in response to queries from staff involving UK GAAP, IFRS and ISA requirements.
  2. To support staff in the use of both CaseWare (audit and accounts software) and Inflo (data analytics software).
  3. To identify and create improvements to firm processes in audit and accounts.
  4. To assist in producing technical guidance (bulletins, technical notes, e-shots).
  5. To develop and present in-house training to Partners and staff.
  6. To undertake the ICAEW Annual Return and other compliance matters.
  7. To assist with the annual ethics audit.

The Person

  1. ACA qualified, can also be currently studying ACA/ACCA.
  2. Hold the audit qualification (If part qualified, the candidate would be expected to work on audits to secure this qualification).
  3. University degree - Minimum of a 2:2 undergraduate degree.
  4. External audit experience.
  5. Ability to deal with complex issues and reach clear and supported conclusions.
  6. Willingness to develop technical knowledge.
  7. Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.
  8. Strong organisational skills to effectively prioritise high volumes of work.
  9. Produces high quality work and willingness to continuously develop technical knowledge.
  10. Able to build and sustain positive internal working relationships.
  11. Passionate about working with technology and audit software.
  12. Previous use of CaseWare, Inflo or Mercia methodologies is desirable.
  13. Recent experience in Audit and Assurance within an accountancy practice.
  14. Recent work experience including significant audit work with experience of large owner-managed businesses and groups including international groups.
  15. Some exposure to IFRS accounting.
  16. This role involves travel to all the Menzies’ offices in London, Surrey, and Hampshire.
