Job summary

TC Group in Lewes is recruiting an Audit Senior to join a growing Top 20 firm. You will manage a varied portfolio of audit clients, build strong relationships with business owners, and work alongside Audit Managers on mid-tier accounts, with a client-facing role across the region.

The role offers hybrid working, professional development support, and opportunities to progress within a fast-growing practice across the UK.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years’ audit experience, ideally in practice.
• Good technical knowledge of audit and accounting standards.
• Familiar with accounting software and control environments.

Responsibilities

• Take a lead on the audit process from planning through to completion.
• Undertake non-audit assignments, including accounts preparation and tax computations.
• Prepare budgets for jobs and liaise with managers on issues.
• Demonstrate effective use of relevant software and tools.
• Build strong client relationships and manage expectations and deadlines.
• Support the development of junior staff through coaching and feedback.
• Share best practices for process improvement within the team.
• Communicate clearly with clients in writing and verbally.
• Keep abreast of regulatory changes and disseminate knowledge to the team.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an Audit Senior in our Lewes office. As an Audit Senior you will be working on a varied and good quality portfolio of audit clients, within the owner-managed corporates, not for profit and charities, the Audit Senior will work alongside Audit Managers on key and mid-tier accounts. The position will be in a client facing role, establishing strong relationships with a significant number of business owners across the region.

Key responsibilities of an Audit Senior will include:

• Take a lead on the audit process from planning through to completion
• Undertake non audit assignments, including accounts preparation and tax computations
• Prepare a job to meaningful and realistic budgets, liaising with Manager on any issues
• Demonstrate good utilisation of relevant software
• Demonstrate an awareness and some understanding of the clients business and manage each job to ensure client expectations and deadlines are met
• Assist in the development of others, particularly trainees through providing thoughtful feedback on jobs, offering coaching and support as necessary and supporting the Manager with useful, constructive feedback as appropriate
• Sharing best practice and ideas within the team for process improvement and development of each other
• Communicate verbally and in writing with clients
• Effectively manages Partner and Manager expectations, communicating regularly on progress of jobs
• Remain informed about legislative, technical and regulatory changes and share knowledge amongst the team

What We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:

• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in an Audit capacity, ideally in Practice
• Good level of technical knowledge of Audit & Accounting standards
• Knowledge of accounting systems and control environments within a finance function
• Previous knowledge of the charities and academy sector would be advantageous
• Familiar with accounting software including Sage and Xero
• Previous use of CCH and Caseware would be an advantage
• Strong Excel skills – including vlookup, sumif and Pivot Tables
• Ability to communicate and engage with clients in a professional but personable manner
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Engaging communication style & active listener

Must have the ability to drive and access to own transport as travel to client sites will be necessary
