Job summary

The Abbey is seeking an experienced Audit Senior for its Greater Manchester area. This role offers hybrid, full-time work within a growing accountancy and business advisory firm.

You will take ownership of audits, lead onsite teams and mentor trainees while collaborating with Managers and Directors. Ideal candidates are ACA/ACCA qualified or nearing qualification, with external audit experience across owner-managed businesses and strong client-facing communication.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualification, or actively progressing toward qualification.
• External audit experience across a varied client portfolio.
• Experience auditing owner-managed businesses.
• Strong understanding of audit from planning to completion.
• Experience leading or supervising junior auditors.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Confident client-facing and relationship-building abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Collaborative, willing to coach junior colleagues.
• Proficient with modern audit/accounting systems; CCH is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute and support the completion of external audit assignments.
• Lead onsite audit teams and ensure accurate, efficient delivery.
• Work closely with Audit Managers and Directors throughout the audit process.
• Manage day-to-day client communication during audit assignments.
• Build strong, long-term client relationships.
• Develop a detailed understanding of clients' businesses and environments.
• Ensure audit work is completed to a high standard.
• Review work and escalate issues as needed.
• Coach and develop trainees and semi-senior auditors.
• Manage competing assignments and deadlines effectively.
• Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing audit team.
