Overview

Seeking an Audit Senior Associate to join a renowned accountancy firm based in Reading. The role suits a candidate who has qualified ACA or ACCA and has significant audit experience gained in a UK accountancy practice environment.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team or as the first point of contact for clients on a day‑to‑day basis, anticipating client needs and communicating effectively with clients.
• Assist in the planning, execution and finalisation of all areas of the audit assignment, demonstrating an understanding of risk and managing it in all client interactions.
• Produce work for review by the team leader, manager and/or partner.
• Develop business development skills and identify additional sales opportunities.
• Apply a solution‑based approach to problem solving.
• Identify areas requiring improvement in the client’s business processes and propose recommendations, assist in preparing the Audit Findings Reports to be provided to the client.
• Monitor progress against the audit budget and explain variances to the manager.
• Potentially travel to areas outside of Reading to support audit teams from other offices.
• Continue to develop skills and build on existing knowledge.
• Coaching junior members of the team, providing guidance and assistance as required.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA or ACCA.
• Significant auditing and accounting experience gained within a UK accountancy practice environment.
• Sound understanding of UK GAAP and accounting principles.
• Experience in corporate audit, non‑profits and pensions is advantageous.
• Good general IT skills; Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and ideally CaseWare.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Energy and enthusiasm with a desire for personal and career development.
• A willingness to travel to client sites is essential.

Eligibility

The role is open only to candidates who have the right to work in the UK and do not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. Candidates must have experience gained within a UK accountancy practice.
