Job summary

Sheridan Maine London is partnering with a growing accountancy practice in Central London to recruit an experienced Audit Senior. The role focuses on leading audits, overseeing fieldwork, and developing client relationships across sectors including property, tech, and professional services.

The successful candidate will have ACA/ACCA (or final stages), 2+ years in practice, strong audit and accounts experience, and solid UK standards knowledge.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Leading audit assignments from planning through to completion for a varied portfolio of clients
• Managing audit fieldwork both on-site and remotely
• Preparing and reviewing financial statements in accordance with accounting standards
• Identifying and communicating audit findings and recommendations to clients and senior management
• Supervising, mentoring, and reviewing the work of junior team members
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients as the trusted contact
• Liaising with managers and partners to deliver within budgets and deadlines
• Assisting with management reports and audit documentation
• Keeping up to date with developments in accounting and auditing standards
• Supporting business development activities and identifying opportunities to provide additional services

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated audit professional to join a forward-thinking firm with a diverse client portfolio spanning a range of sectors, including property, technology, professional services, hospitality, and owner-managed businesses. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading audit assignments, developing client relationships, and supporting the continued growth of the audit team.

Key responsibilities of the Audit Senior:

• Leading audit assignments from planning through to completion for a varied portfolio of clients.
• Managing audit fieldwork both on-site and remotely, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
• Preparing and reviewing financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
• Identifying and communicating audit findings and recommendations to clients and senior management.
• Supervising, mentoring, and reviewing the work of junior team members.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted point of contact throughout the audit process.
• Liaising with managers and partners to ensure assignments are delivered within agreed budgets and deadlines.
• Assisting with the preparation of management reports and audit documentation.
• Keeping up to date with developments in accounting and auditing standards.
• Supporting business development activities and identifying opportunities to provide additional services to clients.

The successful Audit Senior will have:

• ACA or ACCA qualification, or be in the final stages of qualification.
• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment (minimum of 2 years).
• Strong audit and accounts preparation experience.
• Experience managing audits from planning through to completion.
• Sound knowledge of UK accounting and auditing standards.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Strong organisational abilities with the capability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Experience supervising and supporting junior staff members.
• A proactive and professional approach with strong attention to detail.
