Job summary

Sheridan Maine is recruiting an Audit & Accounts Senior Manager in the City of London. You will manage a portfolio of audit and accounts clients, lead audits from planning to completion, and ensure compliance with UK GAAP and FR S 102 while mentoring the team.

The role offers significant responsibility, exposure to complex assignments, and a clear path toward Director and leadership opportunities within a respected practice.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualification with significant post-qualified experience.
• Strong background within an accountancy practice.
• Extensive experience managing both audit and accounts assignments.
• Excellent technical knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards.
• Experience managing a substantial client portfolio.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Commercial mindset with ability to identify opportunities for clients and the practice.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of audit and accounts clients across sectors.

• Reviewing statutory accounts prepared under UK GAAP and FRS 102.
• Providing technical guidance to managers, seniors and juniors.
• Primary client contact and relationship management.
• Managing budgets, profitability and resource allocation.

Sheridan Maine is delighted to be partnering with a respected and growing accountancy practice in the City of London to recruit an experienced Audit & Accounts Senior Manager.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a commercially minded practice professional to join a firm with a diverse and prestigious client portfolio. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing key client relationships, overseeing audit and accounts assignments, and supporting the leadership team in driving the continued success of the practice.

The role offers significant responsibility, exposure to complex assignments, and a clear pathway towards Director and future leadership opportunities.

Key responsibilities of the Audit & Accounts Senior Manager:

• Managing a portfolio of audit and accounts clients across a variety of sectors.
• Leading audit assignments from planning through to completion, ensuring compliance with relevant auditing standards.
• Reviewing statutory accounts prepared under UK GAAP and FRS 102.
• Providing technical guidance and support to managers, seniors, and junior team members.
• Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong long-term relationships.
• Managing assignment budgets, profitability, and resource allocation.
• Reviewing and approving audit files, accounts, and associated reports before Partner sign-off.
• Identifying business advisory opportunities and delivering value-added solutions to clients.
• Supporting Partners with business development initiatives, proposals, and networking activities.
• Monitoring workflow across the team and ensuring deadlines are consistently achieved.
• Assisting with practice strategy, process improvements, and operational efficiencies.
• Coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to support their professional growth.

The successful Audit & Accounts Senior Manager will have:

• ACA or ACCA qualification with significant post-qualified experience.
