Job summary

Ambition in Cheltenham seeks an Associate Director to lead audit, accounts and tax work for a diverse client base. You will manage your own portfolio, guiding junior staff and coordinating cross-team collaboration to deliver compliant financial reporting and advisory services.

You will oversee planning and execution of audits, liaise with clients on complex matters, and contribute to strategic finance projects. A strong track record in practice is essential.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of a client portfolio across audit, accounts, tax and advisory work.

What You'll Be Doing

• Take full ownership of a client portfolio, overseeing all aspects of audit, accounts, tax, and business advisory work, including ad hoc project assignments
• Plan and lead audit fieldwork, statutory financial reporting, and completion procedures from start to finish
• Work on-site with clients and act as a trusted day-to-day point of contact for queries and ongoing matters
• Collaborate with the internal tax team to support pre-year-end planning across both corporate and personal tax
• Contribute to specialist corporate finance assignments as they arise

What We're Looking For

• ACA or ACCA qualified
• Proven supervisory experience, including the ability to coach, guide, and motivate junior team members
• The ability to see both the broader financial picture and the detail of individual audit balances
• Strong project management skills, including sound decision-making, analytical thinking, time management, and organisational ability

Nice to Have

• Prior experience working within a practice environment on a varied client portfolio
• Exposure to corporate finance or advisory work
