Job summary

McGinnis Loy Associates is seeking a Qualified ACA/ACCA Audit Senior to join the growing audit function near Cheltenham. The role is typically 80% audit and 20% accounts/tax, reporting to an Audit Manager.

You will lead audit assignments, supervise junior staff, and work with clients across sectors, with salary up to £53,000 plus pension, healthcare and 25 days holiday.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA or ACCA with 2-5+ years external audit experience in SME/OMB-sized corporates.
• Experience in a well-established Top100 or regional accountancy firm is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a variety of audit assignments across sectors and liaise with managers/directors.
• Prepare audit files, plan, and guide juniors during fieldwork.
• Ensure end-to-end audits are completed on time and within budget.
• Supervise and review work of graduate audit staff.
• Utilise accounting software to provide accurate reporting to managers, directors and clients.
• Assist with corporate tax computations for small companies and partnerships as required.
• Collaborate with Outsourcing to finalise year-end accounts under supervision.
• Maintain up-to-date technical audit knowledge and CPD requirements.
• Develop and apply technical audit knowledge on the job.

McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a fast‑growing Top30 Accountancy Practice who are looking to strengthen their Audit function and recruit a Qualified ACA/ACCA Audit Senior for their growing offices near Cheltenham. Reporting to one of the Audit Managers, you will be responsible for:

Responsibilities

• LeadingavarietyofinterestingandsmallerAuditassignmentsacrossmultipleindustrysectors,liaisingwithmanagersanddirectorswhenrequired
• Preparingauditfiles,undertakingauditplanningandleading/assistingjuniorswithfieldwork
• Ensuringend-to-endauditassignmentsarecompletedtoahighstandard,intimeandwithinbudgetsagreedwithDirectors
• Supervisingandreviewingjobscompletedbygraduate-levelmembersofAuditstaff
• UsingaccountingsoftwaretoprovideaccuratereportingforManagers,Directorsandclients
• Assistingwithcorporatetaxcomputationsforsmalllimitedcompaniesandpartnershipsasrequired
• WorkingwiththeOutsourcingteamtohelpfinaliseyear-endaccountsunderthesupervisionoftheAuditDirector
• Maintaininguptodateandrelevanttechnicalauditknowledge,completingCPDrequirementsasrequired
• DevelopingandapplyingyourtechnicalAuditknowledgethroughon-the-jobtraining

Requirements & Qualifications

To be considered for the role which will typically be 80% Audit and 20% Accounts/Tax, you should be a Qualified ACA or Qualified ACCA Accountant, ideally with 2-5+ years external Audit experience of SME/OMB-sized corporate businesses, and a working history in a well-established Top100 or regional Accountancy firm. You will have experience working in a team environment on multiple audit clients, building relationships with clients and internal management teams, and being able to prioritise and work to strict audit deadlines.

Compensation & Benefits

Onofferisasalaryupto£53,000dependingonqualificationandexperience,withbenefitstoincludecompanypension,healthcareand25daysholiday.ThefirmwillhappilyconsidercandidateswhomaybeinterestedinrelocatingtotheCheltenham/Gloucester/BristolareafromotherpartsoftheUK.
